Which Australian bookmaker consistently offers the best racing odds? We measured 500+ races to find out — and the answer depends on the race type.
We measured market depth across 500 AFL pricing rows covering 245 fixtures and 11 bookmakers. One operator offered 861 markets on a single game. Another offered one. The gap between the deepest and thinnest AFL card is roughly 800 markets, and it changes what you can actually bet.
A head-to-head between the two AU-focused odds APIs. Bookmaker depth, racing coverage, Betfair Exchange, closing-line archive, streaming, webhooks and what each actually costs.
The "best" bookmaker for racing depends on who you ask. We measured odds quality across 140+ Australian bookmakers on 500+ races to find the objective answer.
For each race, we captured win odds from every active bookmaker at race close. We then measured: average odds quality (price relative to the market consensus), margin (implied overround), and value frequency (how often each book offered the best price).

TAB dominates harness racing with the deepest pool and most comprehensive coverage. Betfair Exchange offers the best odds where available, but harness liquidity is lower than thoroughbred. Among corporates, BetRight and Unibet offer the tightest margins on harness.
Greyhound markets are smaller and less liquid, which means wider margins across the board. PickleBet and BetRight consistently offer the best greyhound odds, with margins 1-2% lower than the big corporates. Sportsbet has improved their greyhound coverage significantly in 2026.
